Art Show Winners

ALBANY - Several Albany area artists walked away with award ribbons recently during the Albany Area Arts Council's 10th annual Southwest Georgia Regional Art Show.During a reception kicking off the show, Jean Weiner walked away with the Best in Show award for the painting "Showtime," which also took first in the painting category.

Others recognized in the painting category were Pam Scruggs, second place, for "Singing Dennis to Glory;" third-place winner Deborah Tidwell Holtzscheiter for "Billy Ray;" and honorable mention recipients David Lanier and Jane Simpson for "Southern Traditions" and "Perception," respectively.

In the three-dimensional art category, Gregory Hubbard took first place for "The Great Butterfly," second place went to Walter Hobbs for "Clay Raku Fired" and Larry Ruls won third place for "Hollow Vessel."

Scott Marini and Dot Dowling were presented honorable mentions for their respective works, "Cast Iron and Steel" and "Seagrass and Cable Ties."

For photography, Doug Wolfe won first place for "A Gentle Existence," first-time participant Dunia Edwards took second place for "Fall Kaleidescope" and third place went to Donna Stegall for "Falls at Factory Creek." Honorable mentions went to Duane Driggers for "Changing Leaves" and Mike Westmoreland for "Pelican."
